In-demand digital marketing skills

It is widely accepted that we are facing a severe crisis when it comes to the gap between digital skills needed by employers and available talent. Having entered the pandemic with a pre-existing digital skills shortage, the rapid change in behaviour of both consumers and businesses over the last 12 months has led to increased focus and investment in digital channels, resulting in a sharp rise in demand for digital marketing skills.

In the first 6 months of 2021, there was a 63% increase in the number of digital marketing roles posted on LinkedIn. However, a recent report by analytics firm, Acquia, found that around a third of UK businesses were struggling to find the digital marketing skills and talent they needed. 

Work-based learning programmes from QA have been designed to help organisations and individuals build the in-demand digital marketing capabilities, both by finding and developing new talent and through the upskilling of existing teams.  

Digital marketing skills are crucial in the battleground for customer attention. Programme Duration: 15 months / Gateway: 12 months

Fees: This programme is fully funded through an employer by the apprenticeship levy.

For experienced marketing professionals, looking to develop the skills and knowledge required to lead on the creation and execution of digital marketing strategies. This programme is delivered in partnership by QA and Solent University (with the degree awarded by Solent University).


Skills & capabilities gained: 

This programme links the study of modules (theory) to industry (practice) through interaction with employers through real-world scenarios including live briefs, simulations, work experience and personal development.

Learners will be also prepared for registration with a professional body.

The apprenticeship levy & funding 

For SMEs, Government funding will cover 95% of the training cost for QA's work-based learning programmes. Additional funding may also be available. For organisations who pay the apprenticeship levy, typically 100% of the training costs will be met through funding.

Government incentives

In the Spring 2021 Budget, the Government announced an increase to the incentives offered for apprenticeships.

Employers can now receive up to £4,000 for each new apprentice joining between 1 April 2021 and 30 September 2021.
