Overview:

DAX is a powerful tool which builds on familiar functions found in Microsoft Excel. This webinar introduces the DAX function language in Power BI Desktop. You will see how to access DAX, understand its syntax and create a calculated column.

• How to access DAX in Power BI Desktop
• DAX syntax, structure and context introduced
• Creating a calculated column in DAX
• Additional resources available

You will also leanr how to access DAX in Power BI Desktop and gain an understanding of the possible uses for DAX.
 
We will show how to read and work with the syntax or structure of DAX formulas.
Calculated columns will be created and added to tables.

The seminar will conclude by identifying further resources available to continue the DAX learning journey.
 
 

Target audience:

This webinar is aimed at attendees who are starting a journey using DAX in Power BI Desktop. No prior knowledge of DAX is assumed or required.

Richard is a Microsoft Office Master Instructor with 30 years' experience, and he's QA’s lead on Office 365 End User Applications and Power BI courses for business users. He has over 30 years’ experience of working with office applications and in client business application transformation projects, gaining a wide variety of experience across all sectors, both commercial and not for profit.

Richard is QA’s lead on Office 365 End User Applications, working closely with Microsoft since Office 365's launch in 2011.​ Working with data has always been integral to Richard’s professional activities and he is also responsible for QA’s Microsoft Power BI courses for business users. He is a Microsoft Office Master Instructor and a qualified PRINCE2 Practitioner.
