Ruth joined Costa Coffee in September 2021 and leads the Global Talent Development and Apprenticeships area. She drives Costa’s talent strategy for graduates, apprentices and early careers, creating opportunities to enable the business to grow future leaders and key capability, and has expanded the apprenticeship programmes available to Costa team members to 30 varying specialisms. Ruth is passionate about continuous talent development, diversity and inclusion and changing perceptions of apprenticeships. With over 18 years experience in HR, primarily in the Technology and Professional Service sectors, Ruth has specialised in Talent Development and Apprenticeships for 10 years, leading award winning, national programmes.

Ed Child

Global Head Consumer Data & Digital Analytics (Costa Coffee)

Ed Child is the Global Head of Consumer Data & Digital Analytics at Costa Coffee and spent over 20 years building and leading teams in the Data & Analytics space.      Experience spans Ecommerce, Grocery, Finance & Retail covering a range of different data disciplines including Consumer Analytics, Loyalty, CRM, Media Effectiveness, BI, Data Science and Digital Analytics.
Ed is a huge supporter of L&D and drives a growth mindset within his teams and is a passionate advocate in developing a range of learning pathways.   This includes getting our Data Apprenticeships up and running at Costa, as well as a range of other training partners including QA Cloud Academy & Circus Street.
Ed has been at Costa for the last three years and is putting data/analytics at the core of our business decision making with best possible insights into consumer and loyalty behaviour, helping drive more personalised and engaging consumer experiences.

David is a computer scientist with specialisation in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, data analytics and business intelligence. He is a technology CEO and tech start-up founder, with a successful record of supporting business growth, corporate governance and creating thriving and successful cultures.
He served as a main Board Director of TechUK and advised the Parliamentary Committee on AI as it developed a strategy to support the UK’s aim to be a high growth, data driven economy.
David is a respected speaker on AI and how organisations can transform to become “Data and AI first”.

Jo is a Managing Director at QA, responsible for the Groups government-funded apprenticeships business unit which delivers a variety of tech disciplines, across numerous levels, up to degree apprenticeships, to more than 5000 learners a year.
Jo is a well-established and authentic leader with over 20 years’ experience in the education sector, having started her career as a teacher. Following several years as a teacher and school leader in the UK, Jo embarked on a career, working across all aspects of the learning space – from strategic direction setting and teacher training to delivering digital and cultural transformation programmes.
Prior to joining QA, Jo held a number of senior positions with PA Consulting and Capgemini Invent where most of her time
